BOKO HARAM gunmen have attacked jiddari pollo community n Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State,North-East,Nigeria Residents have fled their homes and taken refuge in neighbouring communities, following the attack on their community on Wednesday. Army troops have repelled the attack and there is heavy security presence in Jiddari Polo. The spokesman for the Nigerian Army, Brigadier-General Sani Usman asked residents of the community not to panic as the situation is under control. “Please do not panic. Situation under control in Maiduguri. People should not panic.” Usman said in a text message in response to questions from journalists. Jiddari Polo, a community on the outskirts of Maiduguri, was faced with a similar attack in December 2015.

Men believed to be members of the dreaded Badoo cult have carried out another attack and this time it is a pastor who is their victim. The victim, who is a minister with the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, had been sleeping at his home at Obayemi Street, First Gate, Ikorodu, when he was attacked and his head smashed with a mortar. Wale Solomon, is currently in hospital fighting for his life following the attack. The incident happened in the wee hours of Saturday morning. The father-of-three, who lives in an uncompleted building without a fence, was home with his family when the attack occurred.  His wife woke up when she heard her husband's cry then snuck out of the house to get help. Four months after he was sacked by Leicester City, Italian coach Claudio Ranieri  has landed a new job. He has now been appointed as the new coach of Nantes, a Ligue 1 side. Ranieri led Leicester to win the 2015/16 Premier League in his first campaign in charge. The police say it has arrested the “most notorious kidnapper in Nigeria”. Simply identified as Evans, the kidnap kingpin was arrested in Lagos, according to NAN. Evans was apprehended by the inspector-general of police intelligence response team led by Abba Kyari, an assistant commissioner of police. Kyari said the suspect was arrested at his residence in Magodo Estate. “IRT headquarters in Abuja is celebrating the arrest of the most wanted brilliant and notorious high profile kidnapper in Nigeria. He has collected several billions of Naira as ransom in the last seven years as the kingpin of kidnappers. “He was arrested at about 1.00p.m on Saturday in his residence in Magodo Estate, Lagos,” Kyari said. He commended the force headquarters for mobilising the resources to go all out against the “richest and most notorious kidnapper” in the history of Nigeria. The police had placed a N30 million bounty on Evans before his arrest.

At least one person has been killed and several others injured in a fatal accident that occurred along Port Harcourt road in Owerri, the Imo State capital. Narrating the cause of the accident, witnesses said a truck which had a break failure rammed into a tricycle on the other lane of the road and killed the driver instantly. They said the truck was trailed by officials of the traffic management team, following its alleged non-compliance to the state government’s directive which banned truck movement during the day. Angry youths reportedly attacked the truck driver and the traffic officials where several were injured. It however took intervention of the Police before the situation was brought under control.

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo says the Federal Government is moving swiftly to break all bottlenecks discouraging investment in Nigeria’s mining sector. The Acting President stated this on Tuesday while addressing investors at the inaugural National Mining Summit in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory. “The Ministry of Mines and Steel Development has been granted access to the mining sector component of our natural resources development fund for a sum of N30bn [approximately $100m], an intervention fund from the Federal Government,” he said. Professor Osinbajo explained that the move was part of measures by the government to help provide cheap loans and grants to industry participants as well as for directly investing in foundational infrastructure. Members of the Oladele family in Jakpa Warri, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State have been thrown into mourning after a father of three, Ajayi Oladele, was allegedly killed by soldiers of the 4 Mechanised Brigade in Benin City. The father of three’s family has demanded justice and called on the authorities to arrest and prosecute his killers. Also, the Warri Chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association has taken up the case, promising to take legal action to get justice for the bereaved. The soldiers allegedly arrested Oladele at his residence on May 8 under the instructions of the commanding officer of the brigade’s military intelligence group. He was arrested for allegedly collecting N1.5m from one Kayode Adeoye to fund a commercial transaction that failed. The organization of petroleum exporting countries(OPEC) on Tuesday says a long-awaited rebalancing of the oil market is under way at a 'slower pace'. According to its monthly reports,OPEC said its output rose by 336,000 barrels per day in may,to 32.14 million barrels per day,led by a rebound in Nigeria and Libya,which are exempted from supply cuts. However, the  group lowered the estimate of oil supply growth from producers outside the group this year to 840,000 BPD from a previous forecast of 950,000 BPD and raised its expected demands  for its crude this year by 100,00 BPD to 32.02 million BPD  The OPEC production figures are for 13 members excluding equatorial Guinea which joined the group in may.

About 15 people are missing in Kenya after a seven-storey building collapsed in an eastern suburb in the capital,Nairobi on Monday night! the Kenyan red cross said a response team are at the scene  Of the incident,in the kware pipeline,embakassi area. Dozens of people were reportedly evacuated moments before the colapse. Some eyewitnesses say the building had been condemned after cracks appeared in its  wall. This comes almost two months after a total of 49 people died after a building collapsed during heavy rain in Nairobi,in July 2017.
